Selling something nobody had heard of

Featurely operates in a category that most prospects have never encountered before. Their platform runs synthetic users — AI-modeled representations of a company's real ICP — through live products and experiences to surface where those users get confused, drop off, or disengage. It's a diagnostic tool that helps teams make better decisions about their customers, without waiting for real user data to accumulate.

That novelty is also the core sales challenge. Unlike lead generation, accounting software, or ERP — categories where prospects already understand the problem and are actively searching for a solution — synthetic user intelligence requires education before it can convert. A direct-to-demo cold email motion wasn't going to work. Prospects needed to understand what the product did and why it mattered before they'd be willing to give up 30 minutes.

Limelight had to build a motion that could do both: educate the market and generate pipeline simultaneously.

Lead with the artifact, not the ask

Infrastructure built from the ground up

As with every Limelight engagement, we started by architecting the full cold email sending infrastructure — acquiring dedicated domains, configuring DNS authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), and deploying a network of warmed sending inboxes engineered for inbox placement and long-term deliverability.

Artifact-led outbound motion

Rather than asking for a demo cold, we led with value. Limelight collaborated with the Featurely team to build a personalized lead magnet: a custom homepage analysis report, generated by running synthetic users — modeled directly off each prospect's ICP — through the prospect's own website. The report identified exactly where their target customers dropped off, got confused, or lost momentum. The offer wasn't "book a demo." It was "here's what we already found on your site."

Message-market fit through structured testing

We developed and tested multiple offer angles and copy variants, running structured experiments to identify which positioning cut through. Once winning messages emerged, we concentrated volume on what was working. We continue to layer in new variants to push performance forward.

Education-first conversion process

Given the category complexity, Limelight built a deliberate multi-touch cadence designed to meet prospects where they were. Conversion from positive reply to booked meeting requires active follow-up via email and phone. Artifact-led motions naturally attract a broader top of funnel — not every person who requests a free report is high-intent — so qualifying and working the pipeline is a core part of the motion.

Real meetings. Real customers.

20 meetings booked in July — their first month

In July, Featurely's first month of cold outbound, the campaign booked 20 meetings — with no prior outbound history and no existing pipeline in the category. Every one of them came from the artifact motion.

$60K in pipeline generated

Featurely models customer lifetime value at roughly $3,000 — typically a set of two to three reports. Across 20 booked meetings, that's approximately $60,000 in pipeline created inside the first month of sending.

3 customers closed — in the first month

Pipeline is only worth what it converts to. Inside that same first month, three of those meetings became paying customers — proof the motion doesn't just fill a calendar, it produces revenue fast. The rest of the 20 meetings are still live deals working their way through Featurely's process.

A repeatable motion for a new category

Limelight cracked the core challenge: how do you sell something people have never heard of? The answer was leading with a personalized diagnostic artifact that demonstrated value before asking for time. That motion is now systematized, the infrastructure is warmed, and the campaign is in active optimization.

The immediate priority is converting the pipeline already generated — working every positive reply through structured email and phone follow-up to identify high-intent prospects and get them on calendar. Beyond that, Limelight is continuing to test new offer variants and expand reach within Featurely's ICP. The target is 15 qualified meetings per month, and the foundation to get there is already in place.

What Featurely now has is something most early-stage companies in new categories never build: a systematic, scalable outbound motion that educates and converts simultaneously.
